“Towers of Aspirations” is one of the centerpieces of Springfield village Park in Augusta Georgia.  This is a park that I designed along with Atlanta architect Thomas Ramsey.  The Springfield Village Park Foundation, which is part of a redevelopment effort in downtown Augusta called Augusta Tomorrow, initially called on me to create a sculpture which was to extol the Free Blacks and Salves who developed a community dating from pre-Revolutionary times at this site.  The site was later incorporated into the City of Augusta but a church (possibly the oldest Afro-American church in the United States) stands adjacent to the park.
